Cell Therapy Supplement For Anti-Aging: Do They Really Work?

Aging is an inevitable phenomenon and yet for millennia we humans continue to seek for ways to slow or completely arrest the aging process. The subject has been visited from many different angles, ranging from natural medicine to plastic surgery, getting injections and what not. More recently, cell therapy made its appearance and with it: numerous new brands and products that flood the market, promising to deliver youth and stop aging.

Cell therapy as a means to battle aging comes in three different forms: injectable, creams and supplements. In this article, we're going to explore cell therapy in the form of supplements. There are quite a number of supplements out there, so instead of going through each brand, here, we're going to take you through the main ingredients and composition.

Let's first take a look at Coenzyme Q10. First and foremost, it is also known as CoQ10 as well as ubiquinone and ubidecarenone. Going a little bit into biology; it is a substance that is present in eukaryotic cells, primarily in the mitochondria. Taking a step back to understand cellular respiration a bit; there are 2 types which are aerobic and anaerobic cellular respiration. The mitochondria play a role in Aerobic respiration to generate energy. This is in fact 95% of how human body generates energy. Organs such as the heart, kidney and livers that require the highest energy thus also have high concentrations of Coenzyme Q10.

Next, a bit of chemistry: since it plays a role in energy creation, CoQ10 molecule continually has to go through an oxidation-reduction cycle. This is CoQ10 antioxidant nature and how it has been linked to anti-aging efforts. When we refer to CoQ10 in terms of anti-aging, it is skin deep in nature since the substance plays an important role in cellular energy, which in turn helps our vital organs to function well. Studies have suggested that Coenzyme Q10 is effective for preventing degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Coenzyme Q10 is effective against oxidative stress.

Moving on, let's take a look at TA-65, otherwise also commonly referred to as Cycloastragenol. By nature, TA-65 is more of a drug than vitamins or health supplements. What it does is stimulate the body's enzyme: telomerase, which protects deterioration of chromosomes. How does this relate to aging? Deteriorations of the end of chromosome are one of the causes of aging. A study that was conducted in 2010 showed a sharp decrease in the number of dying T-cells for those who took TA-65. T-cells play a very important role in cellular immunity to protect the body. The study group reported improvement in a number of area related to aging from mood to hair and physical appearance.

Taking TA-65 has been around for about five years and to-date; no significant side effects have been reported. This is likely because telomerase is a natural molecule within our body so there's really little to no artificial substance intervention.

What about the more recent hype around extracted animal and plant cells fused into capsule form? Do they really work? Yes they do. In fact, with all sorts of vitamins and supplements it's not so much the product and concentration but the body's ability to absorb what is taken and the absorption rate itself. The main concept around stem cell supplement is that they are composed of cells or bio-active ingredients extracted from plants or animals that stimulates and enhances the body's natural cell renewal process.

Coming back to the main question of whether cell therapy supplements do in fact work. The answer is: in general yes as seen with the examples explored above. Consequently, it is not the ingredients and composition of the supplement that determines how effective they are. The composition is the core of the matter but if they cannot be absorbed by the human body then all is lost. Thus, the effectiveness of each cell therapy supplement that is available in the market depends not only on their functions but how they are manufactured as well in order to increase absorption.
